As I look back over 2013, creating the food film short Oh My Rødgrød! as well as the video What’s NEXT From the Creator of the Cronut? were some of the biggest thrills of the year.
In 2013, my husband and I moved to NYC. Moving to the Big Apple was our way of making a fresh start after losing our son several years ago. It was emotional, hard, scary, fun, exhilarating, refreshing, and quite a ride.
Once we settled, we decided to go for it. Just do what we came here to do (food media/television for me, photography/cinematography for Troy). So we gathered a few friends in production, jumped in with both feet, and made films. Lo and behold, Oh My Rødgrød! qualified for the NYC and Chicago Food Film Festivals!
Oh My Rødgrød! synopsis:
Selected by the NYC and Chicago Food Film Festivals, this super-short is an audacious foray into the world of the traditional Danish dessert Rødgrød Med Fløde. With a nod to Danish humor, it features 6’6″ Viking Chef Rasmus Kristensen of TriBeCa’s Aamanns-Copenhagen fighting between his rugged Nordic roots and the delicate touch required to create his awe-inspiring dish. Directors Carole Amber, Alexis Weed, Troy Amber, Matt Meyer.
Great old friends came together with new friends in Viking Helmets, aquavit, and good old-fashioned fun. And a big thank you to Alexis, Matt and Troy for your hard work on the film. And to The Food Film Festival, David Rosengarten for your fabulous article, Aamanns-Copenhagen, and our awesome Viking Chef Rasmus Kristensen. The whole thing was a blast.
May your 2014 be filled with fun, fulfillment, and good friends. xoxo
